COMPUTATIONAL RESEARCH / IN DEVELOPMENT

Musical
Intelligence.

An executable research direction for exploring the relationships between sound, musical structure and cognition.

The question

Music unfolds in time, yet we hear relationships: a return, an interruption, an expectation, a change in tension. Musical Intelligence asks how aspects of this structure can be represented computationally, and how those representations can help formulate questions about listening.

The framework is developed by Amaç Erdem. The project site is the primary destination for its interactive presentation and current materials.

What a model can tell us

An implemented architecture makes its assumptions executable. Its outputs can then be inspected and tested against specified observations. That process does not make every model variable a measured biological quantity.

A prototype of a research future: ambitious enough to ask new questions, explicit enough for its claims to be tested.

Evidence should be read with its dataset, measurement, evaluation protocol and limitations. This overview does not substitute for those details or present a single headline score as general validation.
